Growing Gert Town's Future

Services for Children K-12

The Peace Center After School was one of our first programs.

In the ten+ years that we have welcomed the young people of Gert Town, we have seen our young friends grow into intelligent, empathetic, and successful young adults who will be leaders in their community.

We have also welcomed young people from around the area who have become donors, volunteers and mentors.

  • After School Program

Young people from grades K – 12 are welcomed to the Peace Center Monday-Friday, 3:30 pm to 5:30 pm. The Peace Center provides a snack, a safe play area, supervised computer use, and help with homework. Local tutors from St.Mary’s Dominican and Xavier University help with a variety of academic subjects.

A certified play therapist is available every Tuesday through Thursday.

Special field trips are planned throughout the year. We also invite our young friends for holiday parties and other events.

  • Summer Camp Programs

The Peace Center offers financial and logistic support for local children who want to attend art, sports, or educational summer camp programs. Ask the Peace Center staff for details about the 2024 Summer Camp Program.

All Gert Town children in grades K-12 are welcome to our after-camp programming. Snacks, indoor and outdoor play, speakers and entertainment are free to all.
